SIckle Cell and the Future of Transfusion

Sickle cell disease is the most common monogenetic disease in the UK, more prevalent than cystic fibrosis. There are 15,000 patient living with this diease living in the UK. The many deficiencies in their care have prompted the Al Parliamnetary Enquiry Group (APPG) wo write a report 'Noone is listening'. We would like the to raise the profile of this disease, Many thanks for your consideration

We would like to:

Give people a chance to talk to carers and patients,

meet the sickle society,

be entertained by a free dance show,

link up with Uganda,

match blood,

see a red cell exchange machine up close,

learn about the latest treatments

and make DNA and help blood matching with sweets.

We have hired the local dance group Sin Cru who will perform the biogrpahical piece ‘FINEST’ about a local patient with sickle cell disease
