Oil painting for beginners

The start to this 8-week course focuses on the basics of layering oil paint with a loose expressionist style directly onto the surface without an underlying drawing. We will be using photographs for reference, but the course focus will be primarily on understanding the beauty of oil paints and the extensive versatility they possess. Comprehensive notes are provided by the tutor during the course which is held at the Rowan Institute in Humberstone Road.  Coffee, tea and biscuits are supplied during every evening.

The course will help build your confidence in further experimentation with oil painting.  Come along and join in the fun with other interested art-minded people!

About the tutor
Jo Tunmer is a well-known professional Cambridge artist. She has been oil painting for 24 years, professionally since 2007. Her oil painting focus is on impressionistic landscapes. www.jotunmer.com

Did you know?

The city’s name is known around the world, but it wasn’t always called Cambridge. In the Middle Ages it was known as Grantabridge, meaning the bridge over the river Granta (one of the sources of the River Cam).
