Mawson Road Community Orchestra presents an evening of inspiring music Saturday 7th June 2025 | 7:30 PM | St John’s Church, Hills Road, Cambridge, CB2 8RN Cambridge, UK – The Mawson Road Community Orchestra warmly invites you to an uplifting evening of music on Saturday 7th June 2025 at 7:30 PM, hosted at the beautiful St John’s Church, Hills Road. Under the direction of the celebrated musician Michael Copley who founded the orchestra and also arranges all of the music, the orchestra will present a lively and varied programme featuring classical favourites including two vibrant works from Ukraine. Michael says; “The Mawson Road Orchestra has a reputation for energy, creativity, and community spirit and promises an evening filled with entertaining performances by musicians from across Cambridge” Michael is internationally acclaimed as a virtuoso performer on an extraordinary range of wind instruments, from recorders and flutes to ocarinas and crumhorns. As a founding member of the Cambridge Buskers, Michael has performed across the world, including extensive tours. He has appeared at major international venues, recorded for Decca and Deutsche Grammophon, Royal Variety Performance and performed frequently on TV and Radio. His deep knowledge of both classical repertoire and folk traditions, combined with an engaging, playful style, makes him an inspiring Musical Director who brings out the best in every player.
