Sarah asks if we want our world to be more beautiful, kind and fair then can we make our activism be more beautiful, kind and fair?
Activism often conjures up quick, reactive, transactional signing of petitions, clicktivism, loud and aggressive ways to demand justice. There is a need for these types of activism. There is also a need for slower, quieter and more intimate forms of protest. Sarah’s gentle craftivism (craft + activism) adopts a quieter approach to protest. It focuses on using the process for critical thinking, object as a gift for powerholders or to keep to encourage yourself to be a thoughtful citizen or as ‘street craft’ to intrigue the general public into dialogue about social change. Join Sarah as she shares some of the projects, stories and methods for your gentle protests in her lovingly produced The Craftivist Collective Handbook.
This is an event is for anyone who wants our world to flourish and is up for the adventure of becoming a thoughtful, loving changemaker.
